Franklin Institute: een centrum voor wetenschap, onderwijs en innovatie in Philadelphia

• Wetenschapstentoonstellingen: De nadruk ligt op interactieve tentoonstellingen waarmee bezoekers zich kunnen onderdompelen in de wereld van de wetenschap. Bijzondere aandacht wordt besteed aan projecten zoals BODY WORLDS: Vital, waar echte menselijke lichamen worden gepresenteerd in de vorm van plastinaten die de interne structuur van het lichaam onthullen.
• Innovatieve tentoonstellingen: Thematische tentoonstellingen worden regelmatig bijgewerkt. Body Odyssey is bijvoorbeeld een meeslepende reis door het menselijk lichaam, die laat zien hoe verschillende systemen samenwerken om het levensevenwicht te behouden.
• De Hamilton Collection: De nieuwe tentoonstelling in de Hamilton Collections Gallery is een grote tentoonstelling van archief- en historische voorwerpen, waaronder de iconische Baldwin 60000-locomotief, een symbool van de Industriële Revolutie.
• Onderzoeks- en onderwijsprogramma's: Het Instituut werkt actief samen met kinderen en jongeren via projecten zoals GSK Science in the Summer™, Missions2Mars en Children's Vaccine Education Program. Beschikbaarheid en bezoek

Het Instituut is dagelijks geopend van 9.30 tot 17.00 uur. De toegang tot het museum omvat toegang tot alle drie de verdiepingen met interactieve tentoonstellingen. Er wordt bijzondere aandacht besteed aan het gemak van bezoekers: er is informatie over het schema, een plattegrond van de museumruimte en aanbevelingen over de beste tijd om te bezoeken (het is bijvoorbeeld beter om op dinsdag tot en met vrijdag na 14.00 uur te komen om drukte te voorkomen).

De tentoonstelling BODY WORLDS: Vital is open met extra avonduren op donderdag, vrijdag en zaterdag - van 17.00 tot 20.00 uur (laatste registratie om 18.30 uur).

Wetenschappelijke prijzen en publieke initiatieven

Franklin Institute staat ook bekend om zijn jaarlijkse Franklin Institute Awards, waarmee uitmuntende wetenschappers, ingenieurs en culturele figuren worden erkend. Het programma selecteert genomineerden voor 2025.
