UrSPU Electronic Library - a knowledge portal for teachers and students

I looked at the elar website. uspu. ru - and immediately realized that before my eyes was not just hosting or a temporary stub, but a real digital archive of scientific works. Yes, everything looks modest, but behind the simple interface hides a serious project that has been working for many years.

The site is an electronic library of the Ural State Pedagogical University. The name speaks for itself: the full texts of publications by teachers, staff, graduate students and even students are collected here. Each work is a piece of the scientific process, living, important, necessary. True, it’s somehow strange that the page description is empty, but oh well, the main thing is the content.

The library is an open repository. This means that access to materials is free. There are no paid subscriptions, no captchas. Just read, download, use for its intended purpose. The main thing is to comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation. Namely, the Civil Code, Part 4. So everything seems to be fair, transparent, without unnecessary noise.

What's inside? What sections?

The sections here are chosen wisely. There are university-wide collections - that is, the common heritage of the institution. Then scientific journals, collections, student works. And even a separate scientific library sounds almost like a dream for a researcher.

Filters are also not just a formality. You can choose by author, topic, date or level of preparation. For example, if you are interested in vocational education, you will find more than 5 thousand materials. But about linguistics - a little less, but also more than a thousand works. I wonder how many of them have been written in recent years? Judging by the date filter, more than half of the publications were added after 2010. That is, this is not an archive of abandoned old articles, but a living process.

There are even categories by type: 44.00.00, 38.00.00 and so on - the areas of training are clearly indicated. Not everyone understands what this code means, but it is important for specialists. Plus - you can find jobs at different levels: from bachelor's to scientific qualifications. So both the student and the teacher can find something here.

Why is this important?

This is not just a site with files. This is the infrastructure of academic activities. When you write a paper, you want to know that others have already done something in the same area. Such materials are available here. No hassle, no paid subscription. Sometimes it seems that all this is too easy - and then the question arises by itself: maybe this is some kind of trick? But no, the information is clear, links to ISSN (2410-7328 and 2412-4818), media registration certificates (FS77-68158) and DB (2016621385) are indicated. So, everything is official.

By the way, why do we need a university electronic library at all? To preserve knowledge so that it is not lost. So that young researchers can learn from older ones. And also - so that everyone can contribute. Even if you are a student and not a professor, your work may be useful to someone in future generations. This is the real pedagogical value.
