Electric Literature - a place where literature lives digitally

Every day the Internet is teeming with content. But there are sites that stand out. Not because they are noisy or flashy, but because they know how to listen. Electric Literature is one of them. Two regular publications are especially worth noting: The Commuterand Recommended Reading. The first one comes on Mondays. There are short stories that excite the brain. But emRecommended Readingem is already a serious sip. Every Wednesday is a full-fledged story from authors you know or haven’t heard yet. They are chosen by other writers. Why subscribe? What does an email newsletter provide?

I’ll say right away: it doesn’t just send news. This is a live channel. There is all sorts of nonsense and important things at the same time. Lists of new products, announcements about typing, a brief overview of the most striking works of the week. And also notifications when something special comes out. Electric Literature is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. That is, not for profit. Founded in 2009. The goal is simple but bold: to make literature alive, relevant and accessible. Not only those who go to libraries, but everyone. Especially those who read on the Internet.

They believe technology can help tell better stories. That digital is not the enemy of the book, but its ally. And that community is important. Without it nothing will work at all.

What data is collected? How does advertising work?

Yes, the site asks for consent. This is fine.They are straightforward: cookies, IP addresses, behavioral data are collected. All for the sake of showing content that you might actually like. Or at least not annoying.

I understand it can be unpleasant. But they don't sell you. No. There is simply a list of companies that help deliver advertising. Some use legitimate interest, others use consent. And if you want to refuse, you can configure everything yourself. There is even a special page.
