About the project
The National ESG Alliance is the only large business association in Russia that specializes exclusively in the sustainable development agenda. The project positions itself as a key platform for consolidating the efforts of business and government in this area. The mission of the alliance for the period from 2025 to 2027 is clearly formulated: supporting the integrity of the ESG agenda, taking into account national characteristics.
The structure includes 23 founding companies that are leaders in sustainable transition in their industries. The scale of activity is enormous: the combined customer base of these companies exceeds 100 million people throughout the country, and the number of employees reaches more than one million. Over the past two years (2022-2023), five large-scale projects have been implemented on the initiative of the Alliance itself and its founders.
Main directions

- Indices and territorial research. The Alliance launched an Urban Life Quality Index, which covers 119 small cities from 44 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. A set of guidelines for corporate reporting has been created within the framework of the Committee on Infrastructure and Standardization. Also available is the Methodology for Assessing the Contribution of Business to the Achievement of National Development Goals (version 2.0), which is already used by the founders when disclosing non-financial reporting.
- Digital services and platforms. The iesg-disclosure service has been launched. rui is Russia's first public tool for comparing non-financial reporting data of the largest companies, created jointly with the Interfax Group. In addition, the ESG Ecosystem Atlas has been developed - an interactive platform systematizing the entire national infrastructure for sustainable development.
- Biodiversity and AI.The first classifier of corporate projects in the field of biodiversity is presented, including about 120 types of projects. A collection of AI4Good cases has been prepared - a joint project in the field of artificial intelligence for the sustainable development of the Russian Federation.
- Sustainable supply chains. The working group has developed methodological recommendations for conducting ESG assessments of suppliers. The criteria were harmonized with the participation of two dozen large companies from different industries.
