Fondymka website. ru is an information platform for the UMKA fund for helping homeless animals, based in Vladivostok. The organization was officially registered in 2014, but the real work on rescuing and adopting pets began long before that - more than 13 years ago. It is important to understand: the foundation is not a shelter in the classical sense, since there are no official state shelters in Vladivostok, and the structure itself functions as a completely non-profit organization.
Activities are carried out solely on the enthusiasm of volunteers and caring people. Fund participants combine this work with their main professions; they do not receive a salary for helping animals. What began as a personal desire to help a few cats or dogs has over time grown into a large-scale program: about 240 animals are under the care of the foundation every month.
Main directions
The fund's work strategy is based on several key vectors aimed at humanizing attitudes towards animals and reducing their numbers:
- Propaganda of a culture of interaction. The Foundation actively promotes the ideas of a humane and responsible attitude towards our smaller brothers, trying to change public consciousness.
- Decrease in numbers. Only humane methods are used: sterilization, searching for new owners (patronage) or returning animals to their habitat, if this is safe.
- Help in trouble. Prompt search for foster care, financing of treatment and care for animals in difficult situations.
- Infrastructure construction. Funds are being raised for the construction of a rehabilitation and foster care center UMKA, as well as a separate warm house for dogs. At the moment, a collection project for this house has been launched on the VK DOBRO site.
Currently, the fund has 203 cats and 94 dogs on its balance sheet. During its work, the organization managed to place more than 2,341 pets in families.
