The Viking settlement of Kaup is a living history, lost among the lands of the Kaliningrad region, where the past comes to life every time the days of events come. There are no mere reconstructions here - here you feel the spirit of ancient times, hear the creaking of wood, the smoke of fires, the noise of bustling life, as if you yourself had stepped out of the pages of a medieval chronicler.
What is Kaup?
Kaup is not just a park or a museum, it is a recreated fortification from the 19th century, built on the model of a Danish military fortress. Archaeological finds, data from historians and research on Prussian and Scandinavian forts formed the basis for this unique reconstruction. Imagine: trade, crafts, tribal customs, routes for the Vikings - all this was here, in the north of Sambia, even before Russia became Russia.
This village was the center of the Amber Route - the route that connected the Baltic with the Mediterranean Sea. Ancient merchants, sea braves, leaders and craftsmen - they all came here. And today you can become part of this world, even if you didn’t know what a longship or a shooting gallery was before.
Where does history live?
On the territory of the settlement there are real immersive zones: a Viking dwelling, a jarl's house, a forge, a pottery workshop, an ax throwing place and even a full-scale longship, Windur. Yes, yes, the same one that was built using medieval technologies by specialists from the Rus Naval Squad club. There are only three such rooks in the country. This is such a rarity.
Here you can try your hand at blacksmithing, learn how to make things from clay under the guidance of masters, test your strength in throwing an ax, or simply walk along the streets where voices sound as if from ancient people. And also have breakfast in an ancient kitchen, because medieval food also has its own taste, its own atmosphere, its own secrets.

However, it is worth noting: the age marking is 12+, although there are activities for little ones - from 6 years old. Is there any point in walking with a baby? Certainly! Important point: the settlement is open only on event days. The rest of the time is work, reconstruction, preparation. There are no placeholders, nothing temporary. This is not hosting, not sold, not expired.While you are reading this, new stalls may already be being installed at Kaup or a new stage for the theater is being tested.
