About the project
Kovcheg (kovcheg. live)is a large-scale humanitarian project created to support Russians with an anti-war position. The initiative works both with people already in exile and with those who remain inside the country. According to the organizers, this is the largest resource of this type.
The project was launched in March 2022. The reason for its creation was the persecution of Russians who disagreed with the war in Ukraine. During its work, the Ark helped more than a million people leave the country due to fear of reprisals, conscription, or simply because of moral disagreement with the actions of the authorities. Many of them found themselves in a difficult situation: without money, prospects and loved ones, often facing depression in a foreign land.
Main directions
The project's activities are divided into several key blocks aimed at survival and adaptation:
- Emergency assistance. Organization of temporary housing and provision of legal support. During our work alone, about 4,500 people received housing assistance, and 160,000 received legal advice.
- Adaptation and education. The project organizes free foreign language courses (15 languages available) and training in new professions. Skills in demand include email marketing, graphic design, business analytics and video editing. This is especially important for those who cannot work remotely.
- Psychological support. Many people need the help of psychologists because of feelings of guilt, shame, misunderstanding on the part of relatives and fear of the future. The service helps cope with these conditions. Assistance was provided to 11,000 people; 1,900 people became language learners.
- Community and networking. There are mutual help chats where more than 150,000 people communicate. Offline events are also held in Yerevan, Warsaw and other cities (attended by about 2,800 people).
- Political participation. The project database contains 400 anti-war initiatives. The Russians Against War movement and the First Flight project, uniting 1,600 participants, are working.

Site kovcheg. live serves as an information platform and coordination center. It contains an extensive knowledge base, news and reports on the work of volunteers. Particular attention is paid to mechanisms for attracting help:

- Forms for registering volunteers: language teachers, psychologists, chat moderators and those who want to help with training in new professions.

The project positions itself not just as a charitable organization, but as a community of like-minded people. Many recipients become volunteers themselves, helping other refugees. According to the website, 3,500 volunteers participate in the work every day, and the total audience is covered in 70 countries.
