XIX Big Cartoon Festival - International Animation Forum in Moscow
multfest.ru is the official website of the XIX International Animation Festival “Big Cartoon Festival” (BFM), which is the largest annual event in the field of world animation in Russia. The festival has been held since 2007 and annually brings together the best works from more than 30 countries.
About the festival
In 2025, the XIX Great Cartoon Festival will be held in two stages:
- Offline stage: from October 24 to November 5, 2025 in Moscow;
- Online stage: from November 7 to 16, 2025 - available to spectators throughout Russia.
The main venue of the festival will be the Palace of Pioneers on Vorobyovy Gory, where a large-scale educational and creative platform will take place from November 7 to 10 - the Cartoon Factory. This is a unique space created for everyone who wants to try their hand at animation: from children to adults. Master classes, lectures, meetings with industry professionals and interactive projects are held here.
Festival program
The BFM program includes a wide range of activities:
- Demonstrations of full-length and short cartoons;
- Thematic collections by age categories (for children, teenagers and adults);
- Special programs: experimental animation, documentary animation, “female gaze”, genre animation (action, fantasy, vampires);
- Meetings with directors, artists, screenwriters and other participants in the animation industry;
- Master classes on various animation techniques;
- The lecture by Yuri Borisovich Norshtein is a traditional event, always sold out.
Competition program
BFM is a competitive festival. Every year, more than a thousand cartoons from all over the world are submitted to participate in competitions. In 2025, two main competitions will be presented:
- Russian National Competition: includes six collections - for children and adults, including experimental and documentary genres;
- International short film competition: brings together professional and student works, divided by age.
Special programs are also included in the competition part, which makes the festival especially prestigious for creators of innovative and original animation.

The festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The general partner is the film studio "Soyuzmultfilm" - one of the most famous and respected animation studios in Russia.
