About the project

my. msu. ruis an internal mail service of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. The project was implemented as part of the university’s partnership with Yandex. The main task of the resource is to provide employees and students of Moscow State University with corporate mailboxes in the @my domain. msu. ru.

The Service is not a public portal for external users. This is a closed infrastructure intended exclusively for the needs of the university community. When creating an account, users automatically gain access to the Yandex ecosystem, including Yandex cloud storage. 1 TB disk without advertising integrations.

Main directions

The service's activities come down to two key functions:

  • Providing email. Registration of addresses in the official domain of the university for all categories of students, graduate students and teaching staff.
  • Integration with Yandex tools. A bonus to mail is access to various company services, including the aforementioned large disk. This simplifies the work with documents and files within the university.

It is important to understand: the site itself is my. msu. ru does not publish news, schedules or scientific articles. All information about conferences, competitions, additional education programs and other events of MSU is posted on the main portal mgu. ru. My page. msu. ru performs a strictly technical function of activating an account.

Features of the site

The main feature of the project is a strict privacy policy and local data processing. All information necessary for identity verification (existing mail, telephone, place of study, work, copy of document and photo) is processed exclusively on MSU servers by full-time university employees.

This data is not transferred anywhere, including to Yandex. This is an important difference from standard public registration services, where data is often shared with third parties. Thus, the university retains control over the personal information of its employees and students.
