About the project

Website pzapovednik. ru is the official resource of the Polotnyany Zavod Museum-Reserve. This is a cultural institution located in the Kaluga region and dedicated to the history of the Goncharov estate. The project was opened on June 4, 1999, timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. Since 2016, the museum has received the status of a nature reserve.

The exhibition is located on the second floor of the main house - a three-story building built in the 30s of the 18th century. Initially, the house had two floors and Baroque decor, but was later rebuilt in the classicist style according to the design of the architect K. I. Blank. This is exactly how Pushkin saw him in the 1830s. In 1918, the estate was nationalized, and during the Great Patriotic War, after the occupation in October 1941, the building was destroyed by fire. Restoration began only in 1972 under the leadership of architect V. A. Zhilina.

The museum’s activities cover not only the storage of exhibits, but also active educational work. On the ground floor there is a village library, and on the third floor there is a children's art school named after N. N. Goncharova. The exhibition itself occupies 13 rooms on the main floor.
