Site rhc1887. ruis dedicated to the history and activities of the Russian Hunting Club - a society of hunting enthusiasts that functioned in Moscow from 1887 to 1917. The project preserves the memory of one of the most significant elite associations of that time, the founder of which was the famous zoologist and naturalist Leonid Pavlovich Sabaneev.

The initiative to create the club grew out of serious problems identified at the end of the 19th century. In 1876, under the leadership of Sabaneev, the Imperial Hunting Society conducted a large-scale study that showed a sharp decline in the number of game animals. The main reason for this phenomenon was the uncontrolled increase in the number of predators that destroyed useful game.
