About the project
Phenomenet website. ru is a platform for the online research project Scientific Summer online. This is not just an information resource, but a full-fledged educational environment that brings together schoolchildren and adults to study nature. The initiative is based on the integration of knowledge from biology, physics, geography, ecology and computer science.
The main goal is to create a Chronicle of the Nature of Yakutia by young researchers. The project is positioned as practice-oriented, where children, under the guidance of researchers from the Institute of Biological Problems of the Cryolithozone SB RAS and the Olekminsky Nature Reserve, conduct independent field work. As the organizers note, without new competencies, the development of the republic is impossible, and such projects help children become smart and progressive people.
Main directions
Research activities within the project cover a wide range of natural science disciplines. Participants choose topics based on interests and availability of facilities in their area. The list of directions includes:
- Plant phenology- observation of seasonal changes in the nature of the native land.
- Biotechnology of fruit and berry plants.
- Geobotanical mappingand study of forest ecosystems.
- Medicinal plantsand their use.
- Permafrost science, including the study of permafrost soils.
- Zoology: ornithology (birds) and entomology (insects).
- Palaeontology.
- Weather and climate.
It is important that research is carried out simultaneously in different parts of Yakutia using uniform methods. This makes it possible to collect comparable data on the state of the region’s natural ecosystems.
Features of the site
The resource is structured as a calendar of research work with a clear division into stages. The project cycle usually begins in June and ends in the fall:
Work stages
- June 1020:Start. Formation of teams, theoretical preparation, selection of topics and places of research.
- June-August:Field stage. Collection of materials, observation of objects (plants, bodies of water, animals) under the supervision of teachers and scientific consultants.
- September 1020:Data processing. Remote session where teams present reports and receive recommendations for participation in conferences.
The site also contains sections with news, photo albums, success stories of participants and materials from online seminars. For example, workshops were held on the use of artificial intelligence in school research.Particular attention is paid to the Unified Phenological Day and the preparation of works for republican conferences, such as STEP into the future.
Participants note that the project helps not only to obtain scientific data, but also to learn how to work in collaboration, determine their educational trajectory and choose a further direction of study.
